A biomass gasifier as well as a heat exchanger unit was developed to provide a sustainable heat source for industrial and agricultural applications.
The production of steam as well as any other industrial heating was achieved through a heat exchanger.
The heat exchanger was specifically designed to be used with a biomass gasifier and it provides much higher efficiencies than the heat transfer methods currently being used.
This biomass gasifier is a green alternative to common practice in industry such as electrical heating and the burning of fossil fuels.
Trial test runs including the drying of fruit and tomatoes has been completed. Green wood was also tested for drying.
Successful drying and sterilisation tests on wood pallets have been completed successfully.
Further tests including monitoring temperatures inside of the barn structure, flue gas emissions (carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, particulate matter) and velocities, and feed rates showed positive results.
It was observed that gasification was accomplished.
The unit has been commercialised and has received interest from the agricultural sector both locally and internationally.
