A 7.36 kW Photovoltaic (PV) system was installed on the library rooftop at DUT in 2014.This project was installed in collaboration with Siemens who sponsored the system. The system comprises of thirty-two 230W panels and an 8 kW SMA inverter.
In 2019 a larger 110 kW grid-tied photovoltaic system and a 25 kW hybrid photovoltaic and battery backup system was installed on the DUT library rooftop. The hybrid system will feed the grid in order to offset DUT’s electrical consumption as well as power the computers and lights in the student computer room during power outages.
This was an initiative by the DUT management, committing themselves to making our university green. The above two PV systems was installed by the IEETR centre and will assist the institution reduce its electricity consumption.
